Well, it’s a few days into 2012, and I feel like it’s a good time to share a few resolutions I have made for the upcoming year, both with regards to this lovechild of a blog-o’-mine, as well as in my life in general. I guess I just feel like it, even though I rarely delve into my personal life in detail on this blog.
Still, here goes!
1. I will start by saying that this blog has been a great source of happiness in my life. I am really enjoying the process of cooking with an audience in mind, however small it may be. To continue to have fun creating these recipes, I am pledging to not let anything about my blog become a source of stress. If I can’t post for a little while, so be it. I’m not about to turn this into a chore.
2. I will make it a priority to eat more vegetarian meals. Since I started eating meat again after a long time as a pescetarian, I have found myself relying more and more on animal protein, and want to scale back a bit. I can’t forget the delicious recipes I invented and accumulated over the last half a decade!
3. I will knit 12 projects in 2012, along with the knitters in the Francophone knitting group I joined on Ravelry. I’m excited to challenge myself and further my knitting skills while whipping my French into shape.
And, most importantly:
4. I will be more patient with and forgiving of both myself and others. When I am impatient, I make emotionally charged judgments that are often wrong; these judgments guide my actions and my words, and can make a situation overly complicated or negative for no reason other than my bias. And I never feel good when I hold a grudge. So this year, my focus is to let things (especially the little things) go, assume that everyone has the best intentions, and think twice before I speak and act. I hope to come away from this process with a more developed sense of intuition, and heightened peace of mind.
